Coming over from the “Other Guys”

It’s a short journey to Stack Mobile from where you are

  • Great question - the answer depends on the contract and the time. You may want to wait until that contract expires and, if you purchased a phone with that carrier, you may want to check on outstanding costs tied to that to avoid termination fees and related device costs. However, if the early termination fee is less than the huge money and rewards that you’ll save and earn with Stack Mobile, you may want to pay off the balance of your phone so you can unlock it and bring it to Stack Mobile. In that case, the time to switch is right now! Also, our SIM and eSIMs can be activated for up to 45 days from purchase, so plan now and get on with switching when your current contract expires within 45 days.

  • To transfer your number from AT&T, you’ll need:

    1. Your AT&T account number — this can be found on the top right corner of your bill or in your online account portal.

    2. The address zip code found on your current bill.

    3. Your Number Transfer PIN (port-out PIN). There are several methods to obtain your port-out PIN.

      1. From your AT&T Phone:

        1. Dial *PORT and follow the prompts to get your Number Transfer PIN. You’ll need your account passcode to generate the Number Transfer PIN when calling. After validation, your Number Transfer PIN will be sent to you via text.

      2. With the myAT&T app:

        1. Sign in to the myAT&T app, click More → Manage Profile → People & Permissions. Navigate to Transfer Phone Number → choose Request a New PIN. Your Number Transfer PIN will display on the screen.

      3. Online with myAT&T:

        1. Go to your myAT&T account and click Profile → People & Permissions → Select Wireless. Scroll to Transfer Phone Number → choose Request a New PIN.  Your Number Transfer PIN will display on the screen.

Please request your Number Transfer PIN close to the time you’ll submit the transfer request to Stack Mobile. You can use a single Number Transfer PIN for all numbers that are on the same account, but note that the Number Transfer PIN will expire four days after you request it. If you need a new one, you can ask for another by following the same steps.

AT&T has added extra fraud protection to all accounts which requires an extra step during the Activation Process. Due to those changes, AT&T will now send you an extra text to confirm your transfer request. Prior to continuing the transfer process to Stack Mobile, you will need to reply to that text so that your number can be released for transfer.

Note:  If you have Wireless Account Lock turned on for your AT&T account, you won’t be able to transfer your number until you turn off that feature first (see below).

Turning AT&T’s Wireless Account Lock off

You can only turn Wireless Account Lock on or off using the myAT&T app. The app needs to be installed on a device that is active on your Wireless account.

    1. Open the myAT&T app. Sign in, if asked.

    2. Select Services (second tab at the bottom).

    3. Choose Mobile Security, then scroll to and select Wireless Account Lock.

    4. Scroll to and select Continue.

    5. Choose the account that you want to unlock.

    6. Swipe to unlock the account.

Note:  Any time a user turns Wireless Account Lock on or off, AT&T will send an email to the primary account holder and a text message to each active wireless number on the account.

  • To transfer your number from Verizon, you’ll need:

    2. The address found on your current bill.

    3. Your Number Transfer PIN (port-out PIN). There are several methods to obtain your port-out PIN.

      1. From your Verizon Phone:

  • To transfer your number from T-Mobile, you’ll need:

    1. Your T-Mobile account number — this can be found on the top right corner of your bill or in your online account portal.

    2. The address found on your current bill.

    3. Your Transfer PIN (port-out pin). There are a couple of methods to obtain your Transfer PIN. See below for more details:

  • Transferring from someone other than the “Big 3” (AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon) varies by provider.  To transfer your number from those Other Carriers, you’ll need three main things:

    1. The billing address zip code found on your current or latest bill/invoice.

    2. Your account number at your Other Carrier — how to find this varies based on your current carrier.  If you have a bill or a website/app login, that is usually the easiest way to find it.

    3. Your Number Transfer PIN (port-out pin) or PIN Number from your current carrier -  This varies based on your provider.  Please contact your provider to see what is required.

Additional Information about many specific Carriers may be available via our StackBot (located on the bottom-right of your screen).  Check with him and, if he has it, he will quickly share it with you.
